As the legislative session winds to a close, I am struck over just how wonderful this community is. Over 3,000 people have gone online in less than a week to demonstrate their support. Well over 1,000 signatures have been collected on postcards...
Listening to more effectively serve - it is an essential ingredient in good leadership. This wisdom can be applied in the current legislative climate.
We see a genuine care for neighbors demonstrated in the activities of our robust civic organizations, the vitality of our faith community, the size and spirit of our annual festivals.
While the State's property tax plan is well intended, and helps all of our residents tremendously, there is one major flaw.
Our legislature has the opportunity to demonstrate genuine leadership by recognizing the distinct situation Whiting is in and acting with us to help avoid a devastating problem. Let us encourage them to do so.
